ABR BCI

PROGRAM ABR
Released by the Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers (Abrapa) in late 2012, the Algodão Brasileiro Responsável (ABR) program (Responsible Brazilian Cotton Program) is the result of pioneering the Instituto Algodão Social (IAS) (Social Cotton Institute), which created the Seal "Algodão Socialmente Correto" ("Socially Right Cotton"), in partnership with the Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (ABNT) (The Brazilian Association of Technical Standards) in 2007, showing respect for labor laws and environmental standards in cotton production.
BCI SYSTEM
The Better Cotton Initiative system - BCI (Iniciativa por um Algodão Melhor) was developed by a group of major international companies, producers' associations and civil society organizations in 2005. It proposes the production of a global cotton "best for those who produce, the environment in which it is grown and future industry".
Currently, the two Insolo Production Units that produce Cotton - UP Vista Verde and Ipê - are certified with ABR since 2015.
